JUNE 2010 - EXPO'S & TRADE SHOWS

Wed, Jun 16th 2010 08:00 am

On Wednesday, June 9th, CIR participated in National Grid's 2010 Energy Efficiency Expo.  The event served to inform National Grid customers of the latest resources available in energy efficiency including technologies, services, and energy suppliers.  A highlight of the event was the announcement of National Grid's new Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs.

The audience for the Expo was more than 200 of National Grid's largest energy users; customers that can make a big impact with energy efficiency upgrades.  Customers in attendance included large business, colleges, school districts, municipalities and other municipal agencies.  The trade show attracted vendors supplying energy-efficiency services such as energy audits and engineering, some of the latest energy-efficient technologies including lighting controls and variable frequency drives, and energy suppliers and specialists offering energy conservation through demand response and renewable energy options.

Project Manager Craig Bongiovanni and I were at the Expo promoting CIR's electrical services for the installation of energy-efficient lighting and equipment upgrades and our ongoing efforts to provide renewable energy options to our customers.  IBEW Local 41 loaned us a solar panel and micro turbine that they use for training purposes, which generated a lot of attention.  The installation of these electricity-producing technologies is primarily electrical in nature, and we want our customers to know that CIR and our highly trained union electricians are committed to providing them with these services as the technologies continue to penetrate the local market.

Craig and two other CIR Electricians have successfully completed Local 41's PV Installer training giving them the additional skills necessary for PV installations.  They also plan on attaining voluntary PV Installer Certification by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), which will further distinguish their skills and experience as PV installers.

It's our dedicated employees who are determined to gain the knowledge and expertise necessary to provide our customers with these valuable services and events and programs like National Grid's 2010 Energy Efficiency Expo and their new Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs that will help CIR to meet our most important sustainability goal: helping our customers to meet theirs.
