Have you taken the pledge?

As part of the Buffalo-Niagara Earth Day 2010 Initiative, CIR has pledged to encourage all of our employees to carpool, bike, walk or take public transportation to work on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd, to help demonstrate WNY's commitment to going green.

Visit http://www.buffaloearthday.com/ to take the pledge as an individual or on behalf of your organization.  The website also includes a direct link to Good Going WNY, the Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council's website for information on alternative transportation, including a carpool-matching program.

You can also view our tips section for a list of alternative transportation options in WNY.

HOW TO GREEN YOUR HOLIDAY DECOR
Make your own ornaments and decorations. Once upon a time, decorating the home and tree was a family event, why not bring that back? Go on a scavenger hunt with the kids and find items around the house and the yard that can be `recycled` into holiday ornaments. It will provide hours of family fun, and when you use as many `found` objects as possible, you'll be teaching the kids how to reduce, reuse and recycle at the same time!

Think green when decorating for your holiday festivities by following these tips.
