The big event is almost here! From May 12th to 16th, 2009, the American Solar Energy Society's (ASES) National Solar Energy Conference, Solar 2009, will be held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.  The 2009 conference theme is "You've Got the Power," and will include technical presentations, forums and workshops along with exhibits by manufacturers, installers, dealers and distributors, and other related businesses.

The highlight of the conference will be Solar 2009 Public Day, held on Saturday, May 16th from 10am to 5pm.  For more information about Public Day download the WNY Sustainable Energy Association's Ad, or visit their website at http://www4.bfn.org/wnysea/.

But that's not all!  To kick-off this prestigious event in the WNY region, the Buffalo Niagara Green Expo will be held at the Main Place Mall in downtown Buffalo on Saturday, May 9th from 10am to 4pm.  The event will feature exhibits of over 75 local green businesses and organizations ready to help green every aspect of your life!  Visit http://www4.bfn.org/wnysea/expo.html for more information.

Make your own ornaments and decorations. Once upon a time, decorating the home and tree was a family event, why not bring that back? Go on a scavenger hunt with the kids and find items around the house and the yard that can be `recycled` into holiday ornaments. It will provide hours of family fun, and when you use as many `found` objects as possible, you'll be teaching the kids how to reduce, reuse and recycle at the same time!

Think green when decorating for your holiday festivities by following these tips.
