HYATT ADDS NEW LED LIGHTING

Fri, Mar 27th 2009 05:55 am

CIR was recently awarded the electrical contract for Phase 3 of the Hyatt Public Spaces Renovation at the Hyatt Regency adjoining the Buffalo Convention Center.  Among other things, CIR's contract includes installing new LED display lighting in several of the hotels public spaces.

CIR is working for general contractor Kirst Construction on the project, designed by Advanced Architecture and Planning, which began March 2nd and is scheduled to be complete by April 24th.  Nick D'Agostino is CIR's Project Manager for this job, with foreman electrician Kevin Neff on-site.

Although the LED lighting is being added for ambience, and not as an upgrade, its inherent efficiency will create less of an impact than other lighting options.  In addition, all of this new lighting will be dimmable, allowing for lighting levels and energy usage to be reduced when appropriate.

New installations include LED strip lighting in the columns on the mezzanine floor and around the bar displays in both Harriett's Restaurant and E.B. Green's Steakhouse.  Harriett's Restaurant will also have LED panels built into the bar, giving the appearance that it glows.  The final addition will be in the Sun Garden, where LED strip lighting will illuminate a new artwork display that will replace the existing fountain.

Other new lighting installations for this contract include new cove lighting in all of the meeting rooms, and new lighting in the public restrooms, which are being upgraded during this phase of the renovation.
